<title>[10/09/10 22:30:29] BKC House Rules - SPG's - Posted by StormforceX</title>
<description>Self propelled guns (without turrets) are normaly treated in wargames the same as tanks, moving and shooting at will. In practice, they were at a real disadvantage in an armoured battle. BKC only allows limited visibility but a STUG can still drive, turn and fire. I sugest that non turreted afvs should have a -1 modifier if they have moved in that turn. They would then be best used in static defensive positions as I believe is historicaly correct

<title>[10/09/10 11:09:39] BKC General Discussions - I-Go U-Go We Go - Posted by geoff</title>
<description>Pondering on playing BKC in a slightly different way I was thinking of trying out the following.

1. Play is (nearly) simultaneous
2. In attack/defence games the attacker goes first
3. In other games its rolled for at the beginning of each turn

For attack defence I'll describe how it works

The attacking player rolls his first HQ command roll and then doing all that is required, the defending player then has the option of rolling his first (or taking an iniative 'move'- note the attacker could have done this - ie fired but not moved).
Assuming the attacker had a successful roll he can now do his second or - pass to another HQ and start with that one.
Then the defender can either have his second roll (assuming he passed his first or used initiative) or start with another HQ.

The defender can skip starting a HQ but once he has activated it he must continue til either he fails a command roll or finished with a unit/units - ie can start with another unit if he hasn't failed.

The idea is to allow a bit more balance with more interaction in each turn - counterattacks etc.
Also by pooling HQ's together you might be able to better handle low HQ armies by having multiple HQ's it the point of most danger.

I would assume artillery/aircraft etc is called in as usual (as a command roll) and close combats worked out to resolution when they happen.

Anyway, though it was worth mentioning and giving a runout to see how it plays.
Might be an idea in multiple payer games where all players of one side get to run a roll at the same time.

eg Team one activate first command then all of team 2 get to activate a command (under their authority).

<title>[10/09/10 05:55:29] BKC General Discussions - SAS Armoured Jeeps - Posted by miniMo</title>
<description>I've long wanted to make some armoured jeep conversions, and just found a good excuse to do so for my Canadians!

Belgian 5 SAS Regiment was attached to the II Canadian Corps in Holland and Germany. Through 1945, they had a total of 50 armoured jeeps in 3 squadrons.

Has anyone statted these out yet for BKC?

I presume each squadron would work out to 3 jeep stands?

<title>[09/09/10 20:52:19] BKC-II Rule Queries - Yet another arty question - Posted by todd.jayhawk</title>
<description>I'm usually pretty confident in my ability to understand rules, but the arty support has not come easy. Anyway, I'm playing through a solo game where I've thrown in a bunch of different units to work through the rules.

I have Naval Rockets scheduled on a point. They are going to hit that point because it is scheduled, correct? Their AP &amp; AT value is 16. So, I would roll 16 dice against each unit that falls under the 30cm diameter circle template, correct? That's some powerful equipment.

If I were to schedule it as a barrage, the template would be 20x20 square and I would divide the 16 by the number of units, in this case 1, so again, I would roll 16 dice against each unit. Is this all correct?

<title>[09/09/10 18:55:32] BKC-II Rule Queries - Recce Support Units - Posted by wolf6se</title>
<description>Hi All,
We use the recce rule where a recce units can spot enemies and communicate with CO/HQ.
But what about Recce Support Units? I assume that they are NOT able to spot &amp; communicate. Correct?

But since the Recce Support UNits are in the REC arm I further assume that I can issue commands to them without a distance penalty. Correct?

Thanks in advance,

<title>[09/09/10 06:35:32] CWC General Discussions - US mechanized infantry - Vietnam - Posted by kamill</title>
<description>I wasn't sure whether to put this under Rules Queries or here, but as it's not a rule question per se...

Ok, after I'm done with assembling forces for my hypotethical Russia vs Poland standoff (soon), I want to tackle with something more realistic, namely Vietnam.
The idea is to field US mechanized infantry battalion (1 stand=platoon level) and that's what I came with after some googling:

3 companies, each with:
3 x M113
3 x infantry
2 x HMG
1 x 81mm Mortar
1 x M125
+ support company with 2 x M106

And now three questions:

1. Could anyone confirm I got the company composition right?
2. M113s seem to sometimes have the white star markings, sometimes not - are there any specific rules covering that?
3. So far I had little luck finding VC TO&amp;E. Do you know where should I look for one?

<title>[09/09/10 01:26:22] CWC Rule Queries - Q for Pete: Could we have AT/AP values for CWC? - Posted by bishnak</title>
<description>I have been using the rules changes from BKC II in my games of CWC (terrain saves, new blunder tables etc.). Well most, anyway...

One other major change I’d like to usein my CWC games is different AP / AT values for the various troop types (like in BKC II). So I was wondering if Pete could tell us whether there is a guiding principle / formula / method to calculate the AP / AT values, so that we can do this ourselves for CWC equipment? eg:

Is the AT value based on ammo type / calibre / velocity / accuracy /penetration / something else??

Is the AP value based on Qty of MG’s / ammo type / calibre / velocity / beaten zone / ROF / Fragmentation / something else??

I'd calculate myself if we can be given the method. But ideally, it’d be great if everyone could be given access to common CWC lists updated to include AP / AT values. Maybe this could be implemented via updated PDF lists on the website? Or even better, through the Battlegroups tool (that way people have paid for the work required and for access to the lists)?

Regards,

<title>[08/09/10 21:51:58] BKC Battles, Scenarios &amp; Campaigns - First game in North Africa (teaching a new player) - Posted by mehrunes</title>
<description>Hi lads, after playing with other's miniatures on other's tables I'm going to host my first own BKC game in the next few weeks.
Theatre will be North Africa and I'm going to teach the rules to a player who isn't a wargamer at all (yet *gg*)!
I have some Germans ready (~10 infantry stands, ~15 tanks, some guns and trucks) and I'm painting Brits at the moment.
I have no terrain available that is made for 6mm gaming.

So I wanted to ask what do you think what I should come up with? A simple x points vs. x points game? A scenario? How can I build up a quick North Africa table? What and how much units should I use?

Did you host sort of these games before? Any thoughts on this? I'm looking forward to your comments. :)

Regards
Sebastian

<title>[08/09/10 21:47:41] BKC-II Rule Queries - LOS questions - Posted by todd.jayhawk</title>
<description>1. Rules state: Los is blocked by intervening li ear, low area, high area, high ground and smoke screens.
Then under low and high area there are visibility limits discussed. If a wooded area is only 4cm thick does that mean a unit can see through it or not? Or, does this mean if a unit is touching the base of the area terrain?

2. On page 7. Why does tank &amp;quot;C&amp;quot; have LOS to the T-34 &amp;quot;in&amp;quot; the buildngs? It looks like the blue LOS line crosses the BUA of the buildng on the right. Unit A can't see it 'cause its line would cross the BUA of the left building.

<description>I just thought I'd share this with you folks.

I ordered some 20mm items with SHQ some weeks ago. When they didn't appear in the postbox, I dropped Peter Edwards of SHQ a mail last week, asking whether something went wrong with my order. He answered me promptly, announcing that a new parcel would be in the post on Tuesday right after Bank Holiday.
Well, my wife found me a very happy man today because there was a nice parcel in the post today [:D].
Can't complain about SHQ since this is the first time I had problems with an order (well, no problems actually after all).

<title>[07/09/10 14:52:51] BKC-II Rule Queries - Scenario query - Posted by wolf6se</title>
<description>Hi All
Next week we will be playing scenario 8 'Encirclement'.

The deployment there is a bit different from other scenarios in that the attacker 'should use mobile deployment along either table edge adjacent to the defender'

We are assuming that this means that the defender sets up as normal up to a 1/3 from his base edge and that the attacker enters from the short edge(s) of the table i e from the flank(s) of the defender. Correct?

Can the attacker enter from just one flank or from both flanks? The phrasing seems to imply only one flank (it says 'either', not 'both' or 'either or both').

Thanks in advance

<title>[07/09/10 00:38:35] CWC General Discussions - Bundeswehr Vehicle Colour Schemes - Posted by Andy T</title>
<description>G'day all

I am presently in the middle of a campaign that we've called Kruschev's Gambit - a limited Soviet invasion of West Germany in March 1963. In addition to my BAOR battlegroup (who in 2 closely fought battles so far have given the Soviets what-for both times) I have decided to build a small German battlegroup. A mechanised group equipped with M48s and HS30 APCs, backed up with mortars and M109s (that have been in service with the Bundeswehr since 1960 according to one source). Anyway, my question concerns the colour scheme for my German vehicles. I'm pretty sure the tri-colour pattern was not around in 1963, but cannot find any conclusive evidence. I've seen some photos from the era that show M48s with some sort of camouflage pattern, but the pics are always in black &amp; white. I've even seen photos from the late 1980s that show a basic green was used alongside the tri-colour scheme. I'd really like to use the tri-colour pattern as it looks very smart, but would it be historically accurate? Any help or a definitive answer would be much appreciated.

<title>[06/09/10 17:50:51] CWC General Discussions - T-62/T-64 - Posted by kamill</title>
<description>Hi!

I just noticed that the subject of T-62/T-64 and their usage in 80s surfaced on this forum twice recently. It seems there are some doubts and guessing, so allow me to share what I know, maybe it will be useful to someone:

As for the question whether T-62 was used by Warpac countries:
It was offered by Soviet Union to Poland and East Germany (and probably to Czechoslovakia too, considering the fact it was produced there) in the 70s, but has been rejected because of the combination of high price and &amp;quot;low improvement value over T-55&amp;quot;. It was however bought by Bulgaria.

As for the T-64 there are two popular beliefs which are untrue:
1. T-72 was developed as an alternative to T-64 (which was both expensive and unreliable), but it was hardly &amp;quot;simplified T-64&amp;quot;. These two designs were largely independent (with T-72 being based mostly on T-62), developed by two different teams (T-72 by Uralvagonzavod and T-64 by Morozov's bureau in Kharkiv).
2. T-64 was supplied not only to &amp;quot;elite frontline units&amp;quot;, but to second-line formations as well (but it's still true it was never exported).

<description>Guys Forgive this one but I jus twant to make sure...

When the Hit Defintions tables state that :

 &amp;quot;Troops in the Open are hit on a 4+, Troop in soft or partial cover on a 5+ and Troops in hard full cover on a 6+&amp;quot;

I assume that the term &amp;quot;Troops&amp;quot; means units in general i.e. you need to roll 5+ to hit a Tank in a Wood. a ^+ to hit a tank in buildings etc.?

Regards

<title>[05/09/10 23:02:56] BKC-II Rule Queries - Advice needed 955pts Germans v 3K pts of Russians - Posted by Ravenchild</title>
<description>Hi,

Steve J and I are playing a Late Eastern front Campaign, and I have found myself in somewwhat of a hole [:D]

Having won the initial game and kept Steve from taking the bridge over the Vistual, I started game 2 on Friday with a slight advantage in points.

Through a combination of bad roles, ineptitude, and Steve's good use of cover, this advantage was soon lost and Steve's Russian whooped my arse, by taking 9 units including a PAK40, Panzer IV and a Puma. I killed just 1 of his stands.

So game 3 looms, and it transpires due to my losses I now have just 955 points against his massing Russain horde of 3K points.I am on one side of the river, he on the other. There is one fixed Bridge, and in line with the rules for &amp;quot;River Assault&amp;quot; Steve gets free bridging equipment. I dont have air superiority as we are playing late Eastern front and can only buy 2 assets of scheduled artillery.

So the question is with 955 points of Germans how do I stop 3K of Russians getting across the water?

Cheers,Craig [|)]

<title>[04/09/10 10:59:23] CWC General Discussions - France vs Soviet Union, 1985. - Posted by foxbat</title>
<description>Bonjour Messieurs!

I'm sure it must look, at first sight, like some concerted to invade these boards en force, but let me assure you it is not so. Not at all... this is just another player from across the Pas-de-Calais getting drawn into the game and humbly submitting his musings to your wisdom...

I'm intending to game the mid 80s period (the Cold War at its apex ) and see how well (or poorly) the French forces of which I could possibly have been part would have fared in the face of the Soviet juggernaut. I started with a few guidelines

- Build and paint two armies
- As it's likely the French Army would not have been facing the first push of the Soviet forces somewhere in the Hof Corridor, but rather a second echelon after the first had ben blunted by NATO, it seems sensible to think it would have faced second line Soviet units lacking the most moderrn hardware, but sensibly well equipped. So, no T72 or T80, but still game t64 and T62, a good match for the somewhat thin skinned AMX 30s.
- Make some units organisation, from which players will be free to pick what they like (as attrition has already taken its toll... to quote Foch, &amp;quot; You win wars with leftovers&amp;quot;)

So, here are the lists I'm coming with at the moment. Just keep in mind, if they don't seem balanced, that of course not everything will be fielded at the same time.

<title>[04/09/10 10:15:24] BKC General Discussions - British airborne resourse - Posted by Dr Dave</title>
<description>Went to Duxford a few weeks ago. There's a new(ish?) exhibition of British airborne kit. It's utterly superb, models used for planning, weapons, trolleys etc - even the pretty little wellbike. BUT, they gave me this web address

http://www.paradata.org.uk/http://www.paradata.org.uk/

It's a potted history of British airborne forces. It may not be as exhaustive as many books BUT you can view the operations orders etc... Really intersting stuff and great to set the &amp;quot;atmos&amp;quot; for a scenario.

<title>[04/09/10 10:06:22] BKC-II Rule Queries - Britsh 25pdr (4gun/8gun) units - Posted by simpsonp</title>
<description>I all, during the game last night I was using the 25pdr (8 gun) field artillery. The stats are AT6/AP6.

Should I roll 8 x 6 D6 per unit in the blast area or 6 x D6?

Same goes for the 25pdr (4 gun)

<title>[04/09/10 07:26:06] BKC General Discussions - building's and saves - Posted by grimreaper</title>
<description>this has been brought up in the house rules part but want to find out what others think.

if you have infantry in buildings should you still get Terrain saves when fired at by units like Sturmtiger's and Brummbar's etc. as when a building was shot at by a unit of this kind there was not much left of a building after, if anything i would think the unit in side the building would take more damage from the building its self because of the amount of rubble and parts of the building falling down.

<title>[03/09/10 20:15:59] BKC General Discussions - Scheduled air strikes - Posted by jim ando</title>
<description>Hi

Can anyone tell what use a scheduled air strike is. I have a British army for North Africa who can`t use an FAC until 43 so the problem is that they can only use scheduled air strikes. The desert terrain is pretty featureless so there aren`t many terrain pieces to declare as the target. Also I`m going to use a hurricane for close air support which as in the title would have to co-operate with the ground forces. So how could an aircraft flying close air support miraculously turn up just when it`s need at the exact point the enemy are without talking with the troops on the ground. How many points would it cost for telepathic pilots or is that from FWC.

<title>[03/09/10 16:18:13] Opponents - St Louis Area - BKC or FWC - Posted by todd.jayhawk</title>
<description>I'm just starting out and looking to learn the game. I'm slowly building 6mm 1944 American an German forces.

Also looking to use Battletech/Mechwarrior minis for the FWC.

But if there's someone who's playing at a different scale and has the armies to play, I would appreciate the opportunity to learn the game from an &amp;quot;expert&amp;quot;
